League Active on “The Big Day”
November 4th – Election Day – saw many League of Women Voters members actively involved in this significant civic exercise. Thanks to Sandy Thompson, Margot Sudbury, Carolyn Starrett, Peggy Roll, Corie Nichols, Judie Muggia, and Barbara Leaf, all of whom volunteered their services as drivers to get voters to the polls! Not every driver was called, but it was important to the Town Clerk’s Office, and to all citizens, to know that this group of non-partisan volunteers was ready and able to serve. A number of League members also spent part or all of Election Day working at the polls, helping ensure an orderly, fair and accurate process of determining the results of the vote, so essential to democracy.
In addition to the non-partisan efforts of the drivers and poll workers, many members, in their role as citizens rather than League members, were no doubt actively campaigning for candidates, making last-minute phone calls, carrying placards, whatever they could do to advocate for their favorite candidate on this most important day.
Whether non-partisan drivers and poll workers, or passionate advocates for your favorite candidate, THANKS TO ALL for your active participation in this historic day!
