New Member Profile: MEREDITH R. CONWAY

Meredith Conway moved to Winchester last June with her husband and three-year-old son. They had been living in Boston since Meredith had begun teaching tax law at Suffolk University. A colleague recommended Winchester to them when they decided they wanted to purchase a house in the area.
Meredith, a self-described research guru, did lots of research to locate different organizations that involved her new community. A political science major in college, Meredith was drawn to the Winchester League because of its mission to get people involved in politics, its bi-partisanship, and its emphasis on promoting and empowering women.
As a new member of the Steering Committee, Meredith brings energy and enthusiasm. She hopes to help bring the League to the attention of more Winchester residents. She feels that some people might not spend as much effort as she did in locating community organizations. Her perspective as a relative newcomer has already helped to highlight ways to make the League more visible, such as the idea of creating a Facebook page or co-sponsoring more events with other town organizations. She also suggested providing a packet for new town residents that would include information such as a list of elected town officials, dates of Planning Board meetings, and the town's zoning laws.
Like most League members Meredith thinks that it is important for people to be informed about and involved in politics at all levels. She sees the Winchester League as a vibrant--and fun--group that has a lot to offer the people of Winchester.
When she is not teaching and taking care of her son, Meredith enjoys reading books on history.
