Winchester LWV members have an exciting opportunity
to participate in the LWVUS National Consensus Study on
the Role of the Federal Government in Public Education.
This initiative has two broad areas of focus: (1) funding and equity issues in Preschool-Grade 12 education; and (2) expanding the "Common Core State Curriculum Standards."
All chapters of the LWV throughout the country are invited to weigh in on these important issues. The LWVUS will use this input to formulate a consensus position that will direct LWV advocacy.
We have limited time, however, to take advantage of this opportunity!
The Steering Committee needs commitment from at least 15 members by October 10 to move forward with this study. To participate, you will need to:
- Attend a 3-hour consensus meeting the afternoon of Sunday, November 13.
- Prepare for this meeting by reading, at your convenience, research materials available on the LWVUS website. We estimate this will require 3-5 hours.
