On Sunday, November 20th representatives from the Board of Selectmen, the Town Manager’s Office, the School Committee, the Planning Board, the Finance Committee, the Capital Planning Committee, the Town Meeting members and the Town Moderator gathered at the Town Hall auditorium to share with approximately 30 members of the public their insights into how our local government works and to answer questions. Joe LaRocca of WinCAM captured the event on video to show to the WinCAM viewing audience.
Our government begins with each individual voter, and the purpose of this event was to help those who attended and watched it on WinCAM become better informed and be more civicly engaged. Susan Verdicchio, a member of the local League’s Steering Committee, welcomed the audience and emphasized how much our town depends on volunteers. Each of the representatives at Town Government 101 generously volunteers hours and hours of their time to support town government.
Each attendee had the opportunity to visit the various tables to learn about each office or committee to ask questions. Handouts were available at each table providing information on the committee’s meeting schedule, committee members and subcommittees, and committee responsibilities.
