Saving the League’s Past

Volunteers Needed to Organize Winchester League’s Records

The League is looking for a couple of volunteers to organize the League’s records so that they can be preserved in the Town’s Archival Center. Free training and supplies are available. Thanks to a grant from En Ka Society, the Historical Society will be offering workshops on how to organize organizational archives on Saturday, October 3rd and Thursday, October 7th, 10 - 12, led by archives consultant, Melissa Mannon.

Boxes and files, saved by Madeleine Kaiser, the former editor of our League’s Bulletin, are now in the Sanborn House where the sorting and organizing can be done at times of your choice. Nancy Schrock, member of the Town’s volunteer Archival Advisory Committee, will be available to advise.  Once complete, the records will be transferred to the Town Archival Center where they will join the records of the Women’s Suffrage League, the predecessor of the League, and tell our history in the future.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the League’s history and about preservation and archives, while saving the legacy of the Winchester League.  It is a short-term project that will go more quickly and be more fun if several work together.

If you can help, please contact Jo-Ann Michalak at joann.michalak@tufts.edu
If you have questions, please contact Nancy Schrock, ncschrock@verizon.net, or 781-721-1229.
