ELIZABETH ANGELINO
Elizabeth Angelino is a new member of the Steering Committee and she is full of enthusiasm! For the League, for community action, for participating in a democracy.
Elizabeth’s first political experience was in Cambridge, supporting a candidate for Congress. Later the family moved from the North Shore to Winchester, because they not only loved the town but they chose the school system. After only three years here, Elizabeth is Co-president of the Family Action Network, she was Co-chair of the Eco-Festival, (sponsored jointly by FAN and Sustainable Winchester) and she chairs the campaign to make the town’s Borgaard Beach into a center for family activities. She is sure to be a great asset to our Steering Committee.
MARIA O'CONNOR
Maria O'Connor, one of our new Steering Committee members, moved to Winchester from San Diego with her family seven years ago. The mother of four children--ages 8, 7, 6, and 4--Maria became an active member of the community from the first, becoming Co-president of the Newcomers and Neighbors Club. She and her husband were drawn to Winchester because of the excellent schools and Maria has served as Co-president of the Ambrose PTO and the Chair of the Parent Inter-Council. She is also a Board Member of the Winchester Foundation for Education Excellence (WFEE). Currently, she chairs the Substance Abuse Coalition and has recently joined the committee for A Better Chance (ABC).

Maria learned about the Winchester League of Women Voters from our Membership Chair, Susan Lewis. Maria is enthusiastic about Winchester and takes every opportunity to encourage people to showcase the town and wants to be involved with helping people learn about the important issues affecting the town. She cites the debate among political candidates as one of the best things the League does, making information available to voters so they can make educated choices.
Maria sees her role on the Steering Committee as someone who can help promote the League and its programs and who will work to advance the League's mission.
