Reception for Lynda Wills, Retiring Director of Winchester Public Library

During her 18 years as Director, Lynda Wills has guided the Library through major social and technological change while preserving the best of its traditions.  A building renovation, completed in 1996, added floor space and upgraded mechanical, electric, and plumbing systems.  Meanwhile she has kept the library abreast of constant technological upgrades and included AV material, computer classes, and Wi-Fi in its offerings.

At a reception for Lynda on July 31, Mel Kleckner, Town Manager, lauded her achievements at the library as well as her cooperation with other Town departments and groups.  He presented Lynda with a mirror whose frame was topped with an image of the Library, showing the Town Hall in the background..  She also received citations from the Board of Selectmen and from the Massachusetts Senate.

Lynda’s gracious response gave the majority of credit to the Library staff and others with whom she had worked.

Also present were Town Clerk Mary Ellen Lannon and other Town government representatives; Town Moderator John Sullivan; representatives of the business community, Town organizations, Library Trustees, and former Library employees; and appreciative residents.

Barbara Yuan will be Acting  Director while the Trustees search for a new head of the library.
