2006 Events

Evening of Civic Conversation, November 2 2006
Steering Committee member Lauren Costello was interviewed by Alan MacDonald during a live
WinCAM broadcast, "Evening of Civic Conversation". The November 2nd program was designed
to showcase the diverse non-profit organizations and charitable civic groups in Winchester.

LWV-WinCAM program: Women in Politics, November 14th 2006
The program was sponsored by LWVW and moderated by Former League president, Gail O'Reilly.
The panelists were State Senator Patricia Jehlen and former Winchester Selectwoman, Betsy Cregger.
Topics discussed included why women are important to the political process, the personal concerns and commitments to issues that moved these women to seek political office and both the supports and impediments women experience in running for office.

High School Voter Registration, Wednesday October 4th 2006
Town Clerk and LWV member, Mary Ellen Lannon, joined other LWV members at
Winchester High School for the successful Voter Registration event on October 4th 2006.

Transfer Station Meeting, September 27th 2006
Tufts graduate egineering students, Kai Gray, Marc Jiminez, Dan Driscoll and Supree
Srisamran of the Gordon Institute of Tufts University presented their data from the
Transfer Station study, done in the summer of 2006.

Adding their expertise were Norman Doucette, Recycling Coordinator for the
Transfer Station; members of the group Sustainable Winchester and George
Nowell of the
private business, Winchester Rubbish Removal and Recycycling.
