Justice for the Transgender Community - Co-sponsor with WMCN

The Steering Committee of the League of Women Voters urges your attendance and participation at this discussion of an important -- and timely -- topic

JOIN US this Thursday, October 4th, from 7:00PM-8:45PM in the Winchester Library Large Meeting Room as we host a panel of transgender rights advocates as part of our support for the YES on 3 campaign. In advance of this November’s election, this free discussion will explore the unique challenges facing transgender individuals and their families.           Our panelists are Mimi Lemay, mother of a transgender son; Clayton Lightfoot, a trans/non-binary Social Worker who is actively involved in peer-support around substance misuse within the LGBTQ+ community; and Brooke Stott, a Coalition Ambassador for Freedom for All Massachusetts and Transgender Health Navigator at Fenway Health. Together they will offer our community the opportunity to ask wide-ranging questions about gender identity in a safe and welcoming space, while sharing their personal stories of courage and transformation. We will have lawn signs, pledge cards, and literature available, all supporting ballot question 3.

This program is being co-sponsored by the Network and the League of Women Voters Winchester, organizations that are proud to join a large number of groups, both on a state and national level, in support of protections for transgender individuals so that they may live their lives without the threat of discrimination. More information is available here.
